Our journey through Italy is coming to an end, but there are still a few days to get to know one of the pearls of the Mediterranean – Sicily. And so we cross over to the island to spend the last few days of the holiday in the charming setting of Taormina at Hotel Villa Ducale.
All of the Ionic part of the coast, including this town, constantly brings to mind historic echoes of Ancient Greece. Indeed tradition has it that the first Greek colony in Sicily was established at Naxos now called Giardini di Naxos near Taormina, in 734 BC by the inhabitants of the city of Calcis on the island of Eubea.
